"You have no battery and no signal," Michael pointed out blunty, leaning against the door just behind him. "I'm not going to hurt you. I just need to talk to you."

Great. He must have rifled through her purse, too. Probably took the credit card... Linao muttered a curse under her breath, lowering the phone she'd been brandishing like a weapon. "Okay, we could have talked out there. You're not exactly instilling trust by blocking the door... Or going through my purse," she added bitterly.

"I came to this city-segment specifically to find you," Michael replied in the same, matter-of-fact tone, "so you'll have to forgive me if I didn't want to lose the opportunity."

That was unexpected. She shook herself out of the momentary stun, leveling her gaze with a skeptical arch of the eyebrow. "To... find me...?" Well, this explanation was going to be interesting, at least.
