"At least tell me you love me," the little wind spirit huffed, folding wisps together in mock-agitation.

Magdalena, we've been over this a hundred times," the mechanic sighed. He blinked as she yelled almost instantly.

"I love you," he conceded, "as a friend. Just like I love Linao."

The stranger picked his way through the maze of metallic parts, listening carefully as he heard what seemed like bits of a conversation.

"I just don't have time for a relationship right now. And besides, it would be kind of awkward, don't you think? I mean, you're not exactly human..."
