Personality
Aniel is probably the most forgiving, understanding, compassionate character I've ever created - within Wicked Alchemy and without. He probably has the most interesting stories to tell of all my characters, as well... if you can ever pry them out of him. If you get in a conversation with him, you'll find yourself talking more and more about your problems; he has a way of turning the conversation back to you whether or not you realize it.

Of course, everyone has their quirks...

Distinguishing Characteristics
Well, Aniel's a dying breed, that's for sure... Anyone would easily recognize him, since he always seems to be wearing the robes of a catholic priest -- from somewhere out of medievalism. He's a really formal guy. And always looked at funny, since religion sort of died a long time ago...

He's got a variety of books in his collection: most of them old French or Latin manuscripts, and about half of them various religious texts. He has a few English books, but he never got into the habit of reading in English -- it just gave him a headache. He claims his favorite book is Moby Dick [of which he has an English copy], but he's never made it past the first few chapters. It's probably his favorite because it passes the most time while he tries to read it.

He also has a collection of grails... But that's Alexander's fault.

Author's mental notes
Aniel was originally created for a World of Darkness [Dark Ages] game [hence the wardrobe]. He actually died in the game. Twice. Fortunately, I had already fallen in love with the character and decided to transpose him into my own stories. Yay!

I created/developed Aniel to have some very nice virtues -- the best of which is his True Faith. He can actually create holy water, bless things, etc. Of course, they came with some very awkward flaws... the worst of which is his inability to tell a flat-faced lie. He just... can't. Although his friends would tell you that he can dance around the truth like nobody's business.

When I re-created him as a vampire, I took the flaw "Can't Cross Running Water," which is hell to play consistently, but I've kept it true to his character ever since. It doesn't affect him as much as it did originally, of course -- like all things, time as a way of beating down what barriers are created. He can honestly claim to this point, though, that he's only taken blood from an actual human twice.
