The information on this page [mainly the angels] is BASED ON many sources, including the Bible, the books of Enoch, the Koran, In Nomine, Gustav Davidson's Dictionary of Angels, friends, relatives, hearsay and personal opinion. The bulk of this page is fictional, created by me for the explicit purpose of this comic/world.
The Celestials.
Celestials are beings that were created on the Celestial plane. This plane includes such creatures as angels, demons, dragons, gargoyles, and many others, including several deities.
- Gargoyles.
These stony creatures are considered the messengers of the celestial realm. They're responsible for any news that gets from one side to the other, and any news that gets from the celestial plane to any other plane.
Because of this great task, they are the only creatures that were created with the ability to travel to any realm without trouble. However, they are usually unable to communicate for themselves. They simply carry messages from others and to others.
Gargoyles also have the ability to turn themselves into stone at any moment. This is not a curse, and it requires no specific time – it gives them an impenetrable layer of armor in dangerous situations, but it also renders them unable to move until they shift back.
There are no specific sub-races for gargoyles. They are too scattered to form clans, and nobody knows if they can even communicate among themselves. No two gargoyles look exactly alike – most have wings, claws, tails, and look animalistic in some way or other.
- Dragons.
The draconic race as a whole considers it degrading to speak to a humanoid creature. Those who do are either cursed, banished from their own realm, or simply quite… odd.
For this reason, dragons remain on the celestial plane. They have no business with three-dimensional creatures, and very little business with angels and demons [since they are also considered humanoid]. Their communication skills are more complicated than human or celestial, and most humans and celestials have a hard time understanding it let alone speaking it.
The few dragons that walk the earth are humanoids born with the spirit of a dragon. This is usually because the dragon was cursed, or because it did something unspeakable in its own realm and was thus imprisoned on earth until it could redeem itself. Occasionally a dragon will come of its own accord, but it will not find a happy welcome when it returns to its own realm. Those that mingle on earth are considered "tainted," or at the very least, sub-intelligent.
- Angels.
Angels make up the vast majority of creatures on the celestial plane. Most demons are considered fallen angels as well, which makes it simply a divided race. There are seven choirs of angels, for the seven levels of the celestial "heaven."
An angel's "Word" is the one word spoken upon their creation, or upon their promotion to a new rank. They govern all that falls under that word. For instance, Zaccheus is the angel of faith. His word, therefore, is Faith. His power and jurisdiction falls within anything that classifies as faith. The more general the word, the more power the celestial has.
+ Angelic Choirs
- Demons.
The only true demonic entities are a race of female, wingless demons known as Lillum. They have also been called the Daughters of Lilith. These creatures are a slave class to the fallen angels, demons created for the specific purpose of serving their demonic masters.
True to their nature, they have the racial gift of knowing exactly what a creature wants or desires -- their worst flaw, shortcoming, or addiction, and how to exploit it.
+ Demonic Bands
- Other celestials. (Gregorim, Nephilim, choirless.)
- There are certain angels who have rejected their choir, but have not fallen completely. Such angels are known as the choirless ones. Whatever angelic gifts they had in their choir, they no longer possess, and for all intents and purposes, aside from the ephemeral wings, they are human.
- The Gregorim are a disbanded choir. They fell long ago, after they fell in love with humans and decided to be with them [see Genesis 6: 1-4]. The choir as a whole was kicked out of heaven.
- The Nephilim were the product of the Gregorim and humans. They are half-angels. No nephilim exist today – at least not in any strong bloodline. The generations have diluted this race.
